ABERDEEN
Aberdeen, known as "the granite city" because of the ubiquitous
granite stone used for building many of its houses. Also famous for the North
Sea oil industry, drilling rigs, multinational contracts and helicopter flights
to production platforms far beyond the grey horizon.
Aberdeen has many other interesting features, the City
University, one of the oldest in Scotland, the busy fishing harbour, it is also
noted for its municipal flower borders and gardens and has been a regular winner
of the "Britain in Bloom" competition.
Aberdeen is approximately two and a half hours travelling time
away from Millwood House by car along the A96 road and there are regular flights
from Aberdeen to Inverness.
